The Republic of Plato posed a question to its citizens: What does justice mean and how can it be achieved in human society? In Greek, the word for ‘justice’ has multiple meanings, including: observance of customs or duties, righteousness, fairness, honesty, what is due from or to someone, and what one ought to do. In other words, it covers the entire field of individual conduct and how it affects others, including all of the rights that people should expect from each other. A proverb stated that justice is the sum of all virtues.
